Ours is an intimate ceremony of just 25 guests in a historic courtroom, so every arrival is noticed. Please be parked by 10:30 and in your seat by 10:45 so we can begin right on time.

Allow extra time for weekday traffic into Decatur, the short walk from parking, and the elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor of the courthouse.

Your morning, step by step

Everything happens indoors, rain or shine. Here is how to time your day. Tap any step for a little more detail.

  1. Park in Decatur

    Use One West Court Garage, 158 W. Ponce de Leon Ave. Details below under Parking.

    Enter from Swanton Way. It’s a covered self-park garage: pay on exit by card or cash.

  2. Walk to the courthouse

    A short walk to the Historic DeKalb Courthouse on the Decatur Square, 101 E. Court Square. Take the elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor.

    The courthouse is the landmark building at the center of the square. MARTA’s Decatur station is right there too.

  3. Be seated

    All guests in their seats.

    With only 25 guests in a historic courtroom, every seat is close to the action.

  4. The ceremony begins

    Promptly, in the historic courthouse. Please take lots of photos for us!

  5. Drive to Vinings

    Canoe is about 20 miles away. Allow about 45 minutes at midday.

    Head west toward Vinings. Canoe has complimentary valet at the entrance.

  6. Hors d’oeuvres & cocktails

    Served in the garden area at Canoe as guests arrive, before the reception begins.

    Find us in Canoe’s garden by the river.

  7. Reception at Canoe

    Lunch, drinks and toasts, for about two hours.

The Historic DeKalb Courthouse

  • Where it is. The landmark courthouse at the center of the Decatur Square, home of the DeKalb History Center.
  • Second floor. The ceremony is on the 2nd floor. Once inside, take the elevator or the stairs up to the 2nd floor.
  • Inside. Marble walls, terrazzo floors and tall arched windows. The ceremony is indoors.
  • Seating. An intimate setting of 25 guests. Please don’t bring additional guests beyond those named on your invitation.
  • Getting there by train. MARTA’s Decatur station is right on the square.

Where to park

There is no private parking at the courthouse; all guest parking is public. Please use the garage below so you aren’t circling the square at 10:40.

  • Entrance. Enter from Swanton Way. The garage entrance is on the left, just before the MARTA loop.
  • Cost. Covered self-park, open 24/7. Pay on exit by card or cash.
  • Walk. The garage sits right next to the square, a short walk to the courthouse.
  • Arrive by. 10:15–10:30 AM.

Good to know

  • Skip the street meters. On-street parking has a two-hour limit, enforced Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM, and spaces on the square fill quickly on weekdays.
  • Accessible parking. There are accessible on-street spaces on E. Court Square, beside the courthouse. The accessible spaces in front of the courthouse on N. McDonough St. have been closed for construction.
  • Being dropped off? Ask your driver to drop you at the courthouse steps on the square, then park.

  • The drive. About 20 miles from Decatur. Allow about 45 minutes; there is time between the ceremony and the reception.
  • Parking. Complimentary valet at the entrance.
  • On arrival. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served in Canoe’s garden area before the reception begins at 12:30 PM.
  • The celebration. Lunch, drinks and toasts from Robyn and Sonja, our best friends.

Our story

Where it began

Our first date was at Barcelona Restaurant in Atlanta. One conversation turned into hours.

The proposal

Nine years to the day, at that same Barcelona Restaurant, Brenton asked. The answer was an easy “yes.”

October 22, 2026

Surrounded by family and friends in historic Decatur, we begin our happily ever after.

Can I bring a guest?

Our celebration is limited to 25 guests, so please don’t bring anyone beyond those named on your invitation.

Are you registered anywhere?

No. We kindly ask for no gifts. Your presence is gift enough.

What if it rains?

Nothing changes. The ceremony and the reception are both indoors.

How far is the reception from the ceremony?

About 20 miles, from Decatur to Vinings. Allow about 45 minutes. Canoe offers complimentary valet.

Will there be anything before the reception?

Yes. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served in the garden area at Canoe before the reception begins at 12:30 PM.
